FOIS-1 Fiber Optic Integrating Sphere
The compact FOIS-1 measures just 56.8 mm x 62.4 mm x 38.1 mm and weighs only 240 g -- yet it is durable enough for use outside the laboratory. The interior of the FOIS-1 is made from Spectralon, a white diffusing material that provides a highly Lambertian reflecting surface. The FOIS-1 features threads for mounting the unit in a variety of configurations. For example, the top cap has a 1/4"-20 threaded hole in the center that can be used with an adapter to mount the sphere onto one arm of the 74-ACH Adjustable Collimating Lens Holder, so that a collimating lens can be aligned with the sphere input port for transmission measurements of non-planar optics. Streamlined OperationThe FOIS-1 is easy to operate. The user simply connects an optical fiber (the read fiber) from the FOIS-1's SMA 905-terminated output port to the SMA termination of the spectrometer. The emission source is then inserted into the 0.375" input port of the FOIS-1. Or the setup can be configured so that the light energy from the emission source can enter the input port. The FOIS-1 also connects to an LED-PS Power Supply. The LED-PS is designed to hold an LED, turn it on and display the drive current. The LED-PS, available for only $577, allows users to adjust the drive current for more or less intensity of the LED. (A NIST-traceable version of the LED-PS is available for $866.) The LED and LED-PS are then connected to the FOIS-1 for absolute spectral intensity measurements of the LED. If you are using the FOIS-1 to find the absolute spectral intensity of an LED or another emission source, you may want to consider the LS-1-CAL-INT. The NIST-traceable light source was designed specifically to calibrate the spectral response of a radiometric system that uses the FOIS-1 as the sampling device. It provides known absolute intensity values at several wavelengths, expressed in mW/cm2/nm. The spectral intensity of the LS-1-CAL-INT can be traced to an intensity standard provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The LS-1-CAL-INT is available for $866. (For information on an integrating sphere for reflection measurements to determine the color of flat surfaces, see the ISP-REF Integrating Sphere.) Also--Now Available-- FOIS with Teflon SpheresFor emission measurements (FOIS-1-TEF). Available for $646. Specifications
