Cell for Capillary Electrophoresis

The CUV-CCE Chromatography and Capillary Electrophoresis Sample Cell is an optical fixture for measuring relative absorbance of fluids in chromatography or capillary electrophoresis systems. The cell is attached on-line, i.e., the light is projected through the sides of fused silica tubing without violating the tube integrity. For this reason, there are no pressure limitations associated with the device.

The CUV-CCE Chromatography and Capillary Electrophoresis Sample Cell features the following key benefits:

The CUV-CCE can accommodate fused silica tubing up to 500 mm in diameter. The CUV-CCE comes with Upchurch F230 0.015" ID tubing sleeves. However, different inner-diameter tubing sleeves are available to fit various tubing sizes.

The cell fixture is made from a standard 10-32 PEEK Cross (Upchurch # P-729) with a 0.020" through-hole, 10-32 coned female threads and (4) F-300 PEEK fingertight fittings. Two 300-mm diameter, solarization-resistant optical fibers are included with the CUV-CCE. The optical fibers are aluminum-jacketed, silica-core/silica-clad UV waveguides. The optical fibers are inserted facing each other across the sample tubing, and secured with the same F230 0.015" ID tubing sleeves and fingertight fittings.

The CUV-CCE is available for only $692.

The user must provide a clear optical window by eliminating the jacketing of the tubing. This is easily accomplished by burning off the section of the jacketing that will be positioned in the cross.

User's Tip

To use the CUV-CCE, we recommend a spectrometer unit with an L2 Detector Collection Lens, either Grating #1 or #2, a 25 mm slit, the UV2 UV Detector Upgrade and an OFLV-200-850 Order-sorting Filter.
