Ocean Optics Introduces Convenient Sampling Chambers for Dissolved Oxygen Sensing ApplicationsChambers Provide Biologists and Zoologists with Fixed-volume Environments for Aquatic Respiration and Metabolism Rate MonitoringDunedin, Fla., January 2005 – Ocean Optics introduces a line of acrylic sampling chambers that can be used by biologists and zoologists in dissolved oxygen sensing applications such as respiration rate and metabolism rate monitoring of fish and crustaceans. The sampling chambers provide users with a fixed-volume environment and are available in clear or opaque acrylic. Each chamber features a Swagelok fitting that accommodates Ocean Optics FOXY Oxygen Sensor Probes. Users can combine a sample chamber, probe, spectrometer and light source to configure a complete respirometer. All of the chambers are 139.7 mm tall. The round chambers range in size from 44.4 mm ID to 146 mm ID. The rectangular chambers are available in sizes that range from 50.8 mm x 50.8 mm to 127 mm x 127 mm. The chambers are available from $160 to $210. Each chamber cover, depending on the model, is equipped with up to three high-pressure (220 psi) polypropylene collars that are fitted for Ocean Optics FOXY Oxygen Sensors. FOXY Sensors are part of Ocean Optics’ complete line of modular fiber optic sensors, probes, spectrometers and excitation sources available for dissolved O2 measurements. The acrylic chambers and covers can withstand temperatures from –30 °C to 82 °C while the polypropylene fittings are rated from 0 °C to 100 °C. Each chamber has a watertight seal that is seated between the chamber body and its cover. Four thumbscrews are included to tighten the cover to the chamber body.
